Bimini is a region in the westernmost part of the Bahamas, consisting of a chain of islands and being the closest point of the Bahamas to the United States. It is just 53 miles away from Miami, Florida and approximately 137 miles away from the capital city of Nassau. The Bimini Museum was founded in 1995, but it wasn’t officially opened to the public until 2000. It is a privately funded and operated museum dedicated to documenting the history and culture of Bimini, playing a significant role in researching the historical and cultural customs, and artistic development of the Bimini Islands.
