Murchison Falls – Uganda Murchison Falls Travel Guide

Murchison Falls, also known as “Kabalega Falls”, is located in Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest of Masindi, named after the British geologist Roderick Murchison.

Murchison Falls deeply cuts through the Victoria Nile, with a height of 43 meters and a width of 7 meters. It has a flow rate of 300 cubic meters per second, eventually flowing into Lake Albert. The river rushes down after passing through the narrow 7-meter-wide Nile channel, and before the water flows down the 43-meter high waterfall, it has to go through a 7-meter rock hole. Therefore, when the river cascades down the waterfall, the otherwise calm river water creates a deafening sound, presenting a magnificent spectacle that is truly astonishing. Beneath the waterfall is the habitat of the largest group of crocodiles in Uganda, making it the best spot to observe crocodiles.
