Koszalin is a city in northwest Poland, the largest city in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, located 12 kilometers south of the Baltic Sea, serving as the county seat of Koszalin County. It has been a significant city in history, with a brilliant past that has preserved many historical buildings.
Koszalin has vast forest areas, with about 40% of the area covered by forests. The city has eight major parks, providing recreational spaces for residents. The rich historical atmosphere, impressive historical buildings, and diverse museums form the cultural landscape of Koszalin. One of the most famous landmarks in Koszalin is the St. Mary’s Cathedral, dating back to the early 14th century, with a sculpture of John Paul II in front of the church, who visited the city. The medieval city walls, measuring 1600 meters long and 7 meters high, with 46 watchtowers and 3 main gates, existed until 1291, but unfortunately only the ruins of the walls can be seen today.
