Beja is a city in the Beja District of the Alentejo region in southern Portugal, with jurisdiction over 18 parishes, serving as the capital of the Beja District. At the same time, it is an important agricultural distribution center and commercial hub in the Beja District.

Beja is a city with numerous historical relics. The cobblestone streets are lined with Moorish-style buildings, and the old houses and churches in the old town silently tell the important strategic position of Beja during the Roman era. The Beja Castle on a small hill was rebuilt during the reign of King Dinis I in the 13th century. Standing on the battlements, you can enjoy the beautiful views of Beja and its surroundings. Today, the castle houses a small military museum. The Rainha D. Leonor Regional Museum, built from 1927 to 1928, contains local exhibits dating back to the Caesar era, medieval inscriptions and coats of arms, including various tombstones, archaeological discoveries donated by archaeologist Fernando Nunes Ribeiro from the Bronze Age to modern times, as well as important Portuguese and Spanish paintings from the 15th to 18th centuries.
